While on tour in the North West province we decided to explore a nearby animal sanctuary. It’s beautiful, lush green natural forest viewed from elevated walkways winding their way through the forest on the Bushmans Loop trail.
On a day trip from Pretoria, a Southern Red Bishop greeted us this morning with a shrill chirp and chattering rattle call. The little birds are highly skilled in creating fantastic weaved nests preferably on trees close to water. They are seeds eaters which they find from grasslands and savanna nearby. Beautiful!
Our day trip from Pretoria to the Cradle of Human Kind offered our guests from the USA a fantastic outing prior to departing for OR Tambo airport to catch an early evening flight on Lufthansa. The Sterkfontein caves was an awesome sight with detail explanations on archaeological discoveries made such as “Miss Pless” and “Little Foot”. Next up was Maropeng, a visitor’s delight, taking us back in time till modern day.
As we came around a bend in the road there they were, two young males under a tree and four females making their way to the lake area crouching behind bush cover as they spotted Springbok nearby.
